Watch out! Here comes Trouble...

I took these videos a few nights ago. Baby K is officially 7 months old. And she is major trouble! Since the video was taken, she now can pull herself up to a full standing position. She gets very disgruntled when I put her in her "cage." Yes, a few weeks ago I bought a play yard to help keep her contained and to give me a little sanity. But, I tell you, she's figured it out. Even though there is PLENTY of space to crawl, she gets mad when you put her into it. She wants to be free to crawl wherever her little heart desires. I'm not ready for this! Wasn't it just yesterday that I was in the hospital delivering her? They grow up way too fast.

This picture is for Grandma-Shell. These are the kilts she brought to my girls all the way from Scotland! They looked so cute today at church in their matching kilts and mary janes. (And yes, H's shirt is severely wrinkled. Maybe next time I'll iron it!)
Well, these are my cute kids. I'm not biased or anything! :) Last night, as Trevor and I were driving home from a date, we were waiting in traffic because there was a train. We were discussing the appropriate amount to pay the babysitter. We usually pay our babysitters around $6 an hour. We were jokingly saying, "but our kids are so stinkin' cute...there's gotta be a cute child discount, right?" In our boredom (waiting for the train), we calculated that we pay 10 cents per minute, and then we broke it down even further and figured out that is about 3.3 cents per child per minute. That sounds pretty cheap! So, needless to say, we did not ask for the cute kid discount. They are worth every penny!

Cute pictures. Babies grow so fast. I can't believe Kate is crawling already. I am hoping Emilee will take her sweet time. Good luck and let me know if you find a solution to keeping her out of everything.

What a cute video! You always love when your kids first start to crawl, then you wonder why?? Your girls are too cute. Love the kilts:)

SOOOOO dang cute! I love the video! It makes me wish I was having another girl, because she is just so cute and petite! And the girls in their little kilts is pretty about the cutest thing ever! And the cute child discount should totally apply to your girls. It's funny though, because Milt and I always get home after discussing how much to pay the sitter, and we see how destructive our children were, and we end up paying MORE than we were planning to (Kennedy has become quite a handful). So your girls look like they would NEVER (ha ha) act like that!

Your daughters are so darling! The kilts are great and your baby is getting so big. I don't think Joe even has any idea about what I usually pay the babysitter and if it were up to him he would probably go too far either way. Good thing I handle that part of it.

So, my question is...do I pay my babysitters an appropriate amount? It's so hard to know. When I was babysitting age, I was lucky to get the change on the dresser as payment. (Ok, that's an exaggeration, but really not a very bad one.) But, times have changed. So, what do you gals feel is the "right" amount?

So cute! I love that Kate eats the bow on her crib. Ruby is so into that! I love Kates fuzzy head! So cute of the girls in their kilts! How very fun! We've only had adults basysit Ruby so we do either $10 hr or we just trade off with other couples. I guess the going rate changes when it's a beehive or miamaid huh?

I love the video and the picture of the girls. I think your kids are stinking cute too!!! I wish babysitting was free, which would explain why Greg and I never go out. Honestly I have only had a babysitter once, other than family!!! So, what is the going rate???

It's true--they are definitely cute enough for a discount...I bet if you stocked enough goodies for the babysitter she would consider it! We had one that wanted to do it for free bc she had so much fun--Cubby was asleep the whole time and she watched Disney Channel and ate ice cream. What 12 year old wouldn't want that job?

So cute Annie! I would baby sit them for free!! I feel bad about the whole babysitting thing, and I hate calling people to baby sit! I hated to baby sit when I was growing up! We have a 13 year old kid in our ward come over. The boys love him because he is a boy, and he plays the WHOLE time with them, and my house is clean when we get back. He is an awesome kid! I work with his mom in the primary. She is always saying that I pay him too much, but it really is only like $5/6 an hour, and he is worth more then that, because the boys love him. I proably rip him off. They try and get his attention when he is passing the sacrament. A small problem. You do what you feel best with, and I totally think the cute kid discount applies....especailly with yours!

P S I've read the Orson Scott Card series, and I really liked them. What do you think about them?

The book is good so far--I'm still in the beginning of it. I am reading it for our book group in Relief Society. Any book suggestions are always appreciated! :)

Your kids are just so pretty! That first year goes by so fast. I keep reminding myself of that when I get frusterated with the new baby thing. Landon is going to be crawling all over and getting into everything before I know it.

Oh wow! Baby K is so cute! And how fun that she is crawling now. I can't imagine how it must feel to see them growing up so fast. You have just the cutest kids. And everytime I read your posts, I am just so happy for you. I think you're amazing, Annie. Tell Trevor hello for me too!

So Chad and I always have the talk on what to pay the babysitters as well. We lately have chosen babysitters that are old enough to drive to our house and then we don't have to take them home (which is a BIG plus) so we figure about 10 dollars and hour because they save us the trouble in getting them here to there. When we have had younger girls we usually pay then seven or so. I think it really does depend on the whole situation you leave them with. Your girls look really sweet, so I'm sure what your paying is great:) SO Annie are you and Trevor still in Texas? And what took you guys there?

I HATED babysitting when I was a teenager, and I got paid crap (hopefully that wasn't a reflection on my babysitting!). So I am always wanting to make sure I pay well. The problem is, if you ask the teenagers how much they charge, they never give you a straight answer! So I figure that you should pay them what you think is good (I usually go off of what my references--other parents in the neighborhood--pay the babysitter and add a tip). If they decline to babysit for you in the future, then A)you didn't pay them enough, or B)your kids drive them nuts! Option B would not happen in your case though, Annie, because your gals are such perfect little princesses! Cecily would absolutely idolize them if she could play with them!

Annie- It's always interesting where friends and family end up living. WOW a Geophysicist, very cool. My husband would enjoy conversation with Trevor for sure:) My husband is very science minded as well. We love California especially where we are at. We lived in New Hampshire for 4 years while a Med school then we have four more years here doing our Dermatology residency. So... I can kind of see the light at the end of the tunnel.

So cute! She needs to give Parker a little lesson on the hybrid crawl! :) Parker is still in army crawl mode. And, don't feel bad. Parker is stuck in his pac n play cage as we speak. How else do I get homework done?! I can't believe how fast they grow up... but it so fun to see the different stages!
